Weird Shoes

I would totally wear those heels if I were a rockstar.

Chain shoes - they represent opposite ideas of both floating(visually) and being chained down

Dr. Martens - Tegan

Talk about Dr Martens, everybody knows what those are - those chunky underground boots with its distinct yellow sole. I have loved d.marts ever since I was a child, but was ever brave enough to carry this bold fashion statement on myself. Till now, I don't even own a pair of their boots, but I am planning to, and I will. I remember seeing them on Avril Lavigne, Agyness Deyn and other rock stars, and how I'd die wishing for a pair on my feet.

Well here's my first and only pair of Dr Martens. It's called Tegan and I got them in wine. It has discontinued already. They're like old school mary-janes but with heels, they're also slightly gothic looking which I adore.

Below is my recent outfit that I put together for a semi-formal dinner. I paired my d.marts with an olive green dress. In my opinion I looked a little like those military nurses in WW2 .(haha) What do you think?

Less Is More

This shall be my first outfit post. I'm trying out different blogging styles and content. Do let me know what you'd like to see more of (e.g ripped stockings how-to?). I welcome critics too.

Top from m)phosis
I love this top for the details on the back. Made of cotton, it is subtly translucent without attracting too much of attention. Best part? It only cost me $17.50, on sale.

Simple eyes and bold lip colour, hassle free face.

Ten Rules for being Human

Hi everyone, I stumbled upon this online and thought it's pretty interesting. Hope it will encourage some of you out there like it had for me.

Ten Rules for Being Human by Cherie Carter-Scott

1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's yours to keep for the entire period.

2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, "life."

3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work."

4. Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.

5. Learning lessons does not end. There's no part of life that doesn't contain its lessons. If you're alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned.

6. "There" is no better a place than "here." When your "there" has become a "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."

7. Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.

8. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.

9. Your answers lie within you. The answers to life's questions lie within you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.

10. You will forget all this.

I like the last part haha.

Happy Valentine's Day!

My boy surprised me this morning with heart shaped toasts at my doorstep! There wouldn't be a better way to start my day.

Boyfriend delighted upon receiving a fake bouquet of roses I made for him.

For occasions like this I like to be a little more crafty though I'm not exactly the most creative person out there. In the end I decided to make a fake bouquet. Not just pleasing to the eye, but edible and usable too!

Idea adapted HERE.

For the one I made, 4 coloured pens were turned into 'roses' by wrapping green fabric tape along with a single rose stalk. The flower jar was filled with plum centered candies then I took old bouquet wrappers to cover the fillings. Secured with mafia string. Sprayed those flowers with a perfume of my choice so they smell just as good as real ones.

Had a wholesome lunch at Marche restaurant.
My valentine's day outfit consisted of a fitting dress (tailored) that flatters my frame, some pattered leggings with plain flats and a turban! Yes, I fell in love with that $5 turban recently and I knew I had to get it. It's comfortable and keeps my hair in place.

Visited the Underwater World; I have been wanting to go for some time.
Shall end my entry with a quote:
"The most exciting, challenging, significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you that you love... Well, that's just fabulous."

Reunion Dinner

Update on my flowers:

Everything in the vase displayed signs of withering except for these.

Every year, my CNY consists of a small family dinner and visits to a relative and maybe some good friends. This time happens to be a bit different. Had the opportunity to fly over to Hong Kong to have renunion dinner with my closest relatives there.

Cousin from Shanghai

Feels great to meet up with relatives and cousins I've not spoken to in years. I have always been envious of people with big families.
