Design Your Dorm

Design yours at http://designyourdorm.com/

This is my current room layout!

Hahaha well it's not to scale, neither does it resemble much in terms of colours, furniture etc. I am intrigued by how interior design creates 'invisible spaces'. My dad always tells me that beautiful spaces are not built solely with things we see - sophisticated furniture, stacks of organized junk etc., but rather, with spaces we create. Don't make sense? Browse through IKEA catalogue and notice how their showrooms are never too packed, yet there's a place for everything.

Anyway if you're like me who enjoys nosing into people's bedrooms here's some links that you might enjoy:

Have a great week ahead everyone! :)

Gems and stones

Adorable Jibbitz on Raymond's Crocs

I hate Crocs in general, but in my opinion those coloursful oversized ones on kids are just too cute!

Applying a fresh shade of nude lippy. I was using MAC's peach stock

The weather for the past two weeks have been crazy. It's so hot everywhere, it's quite impossible to stay out without having to squint your eyes against the sun. During days like these I become extremely irritable and lazy! Hate summer. I'm so happy with the pictures though! Most were taken at the car park within church compound. Such a peaceful, lovely place with perfect lighting and some privacy.

Blazer - Mandy's, vintage blouse - Victoria Jomo, suede wedged booties - flea market

Mandy kindly lent me her turquoise blazer, I love it so much! Isn't it gorgeous? I rarely see turquoise blazers anywhere, in fact I've never seen one in retail stores. Zara offers many colours such as green, orange and pink, but why don't they make turquoise ones?!

Joel and I

The focus of my outfit was definitely on the blouse. It's truly vintage, and probably tailored to fit. The shoulders are slightly puffed up and has a tapered waist. I love how the shoulders are masculine, yet delicate with the colours and details. Such a beauty! Purple is my favourite colour and I think it goes amazing well contrasted with greens. A vintage blouse isn't the most versatile thing to wear cause it tends to look old fashioned and awkward, it took me awhile to think of a way to wear it. I'd wear it as outer wear on days I feel less daring

What do you think? Would you wear something like this? If yes, what will you pair it with?

Long overdue pictures.

I visited Hong Kong and Macau over the last term break with my family. The 5-days trip was so rushed and pack that I barely had enough rest and time to take photographs. Generally, I had a pleasant time, simply cause my family rarely spend time together so traveling is good for us. However, the older I become, the less I look forward to overseas trips. Sometimes, I dread it so much. I'm no longer a kid who'd spend a day deciding toys I'd bring with me up the plane. I'm no longer that child who fights with my brother for that window seat on plane. Right now, travelling is too mentally and physically draining for me. I missed the comfort and privacy of my room, friends, local food. I can never be a backpacker, camper; someone who doesn't belong to anyone, anywhere. No joke, I can never be one of them.

Ruby

During the term break I went out for lunch with my girlfriends, you know, just casual day out with lots of things to catch up on each other.

Anyway, this is just my OOTD. I will do another post on the the day itself. Lots of pictures!

Turban - Rubi, top - mom, maxi skirt - City plaza, Celine inspired wooden wedges - Hong Kong
My $2 velvet turban from Rubi, also seen in this entry! (Valentine's day)

Singapore is way too humid for nice hair. I love my turban so much - so cute to me, so dressy. As a head wear, it really helps when you're having a bad hair day.

Since the weather was sweltering, I wanted to wear something that was airy and comfortable. The top's made of mesh but has floral pattern all over, thus not overly translucent. I believe it was intended as intimates/night wear cause the top comes with matching shorts as a set.

I got the shoes from Hong Kong. It's inspired by Celine, and has been making its statement for probably more than a year now. It's also seen literally EVERYWHERE when I was in Hong Kong. They're not exactly easy to walk in (I mean, you're walking on solid wood!!), but definitely pretty with anything floral, denim and maybe army greens. Plus, I got them in black! I love black shoes.

If you want to get a similar pair, I suggest visiting City Plaza, this shoe store located on level 3. The other time went they was all sold out. So good luck.

Little pet peeves

  1. That half-way-dropping "poster" (actually it's just a magazine page) which I've been wanting to fix. It's beyond my reach and I've been letting this sight bother me for the past 3 months. SIGH
  2. Filing - something I don't exactly love doing but definitely satisfactory upon completion.
  3. My favourite ring committed suicide from great heights and I could never wear it ever since. (I need to get some super glue soon.)
  4. Well, this isn't exactly a pet peeve. Just a sight in my room when the afternoon sun cast some patterned shadows on my printer.

I can't believe 2 weeks of term break just passed by like this. School tomorrow..gahh.

Yep. Used to be only leggings, but recently Black Milk came out with dresses. Oh my. Look at that purple galaxy dress. That's SICK! And out of this world! (literally too.)

*drools*

I need that in my life!
