Children Little Museum

Over the week I enjoyed yet another budget date with boyfriend to the Children Little Museum located at 24 Burossah Street.

Hidden at a quiet corner, this little museum should not be underestimated by its appearance. It's full of surprises inside! Like a surprise box! There are 2 levels - the first mainly selling merchandise and the second is the museum. With just a small fee of $2, you get to see (and play with) tons of nostalgic items and collectibles.

The best part of the museum: photography is totally allowed! So snap away!

I was in shock to see how thoughtful the entire museum was presented. Every corner has a story, never a plain wall. I was welcomed by a white vespa!

I could not believe how detailed the museum was. Can you imagine how long did the owner take to organize and display his collection? Example of one serious hoarder.

I wonder if the bottles really contained coke of just coloured water.

Nigel and I had a great time fooling around! We had freedom to explore because we could touch everything that was displayed out there.

Remembering the days when the school book shop was the coolest spot in school...

The toy cashier was one of my favourite things to play during my primary school days. I wanted to be a cashier!

Marilyn Monroe posters always give a glamourous, flirty vibe to any space.

My outfit of the day:

Shirt - G2000, skirt - ASOS, sneakers - Vans, bag - Mel

Trying out colour blocking for the first time! I still feel slightly uncomfortable in bright colours but I think they really flatter and brighten my complexion. To explore this trend, I bought a small coral bag from Mel. It's like a dash of highlighter! I get a mini shock every time I see it.

I really recommend Little Children Museum to everyone; especially people who grew up in Singapore. I did not spend my entire childhood here so some things did not make sense to me. So thankful that Nigel brought me there! Hope my pictures didn't spoil the surprise for ya! ;b

Thrifting at Salvation Army

One of my favourite places to shop in Singapore is Salvation Army. The one I have been going is the Praiseheaven family mega store located along upper Bukit Timah Road. I love discovering vintage treasures and this place...gosh it has never failed to amaze and surprise me.
Read my previous posts about shopping at Salvation Army here and here.
For those who has never been there or feel skeptical about finding old stuff, let me bring you through some of the things I saw today!

You may find anything in the store from paintings, musical instruments, electrical appliances, furniture etc but I will be focusing on fashion.
The shoes section

I don't recommend getting old shoes if they are dirty and gross, but if you look closely there may be exceptions. Once I saw a brand new pair of combat boots going at $35.

Brand new metallic flats/sandals going at only $10

How cute are these?! They are all brand new!

Geometric skirt by m(phosis going for $5
The evening gown section

The evening gowns were really gorgeous. I mean, you will be able to tell that they're dated but the quality and details are unquestionable. I really wonder what made people want to donate such amazing dresses that they probably wore for a wedding.

I scored a burgundy evening gown for only $27. Not going to show it here because I'm planning to wear  it out (yep..in public) soon. ;)

Mandy with a white wedding gown

This one is so perfect I honestly will not mind tailoring and wearing it on my wedding day.

Details on one of the gowns

Stitchings inside of a dress

Details on a gorgeous velvet full skirt

I think this one is runway worthy.

I really love the shopping at the Salvation Army! Someone else's trash can be a treasure to others, besides it's great to know that you're doing a good cause.

Outfit of the day:

Top - City Plaza, pants - Forever 21, platforms - Jeffrey Campbell, sun hat - Daiso, bag - handmade by mom

This look was inspired by Pocahontas.

I have a love-hate relationship with this top I scored for $10 from City Plaza. On one hand I love how the fringe swayed with every movement, on the other hand I don't think it suits me that well. What do you think?

My amazing photographer and friend, Mandy

This girl never fails to capture the best pictures. Thank God for the adequate sunlight even after a downpour!

iLight Festival

I'm super excited to share with all of you the iLight Festival happening right now at Marina Bay! I'm always on a lookout for things I can do in Singapore without spending too much money; like visiting museums or second hand stores.

The whole night trail was such a refreshing experience. Those light installations were so beautiful to be seen in the dark; my camera did not do them justice at all!

I did not finish the entire trail. Here are some of the installations I managed to capture to the best of my ability:

The Light Dam by Uno Lai

Deck Journey by Zulkifle Mahmod

These are deck chairs placed along the waterfront. It only lights up when someone seats on it! Super energy saving!

5QUID by Ryf Zaini

This giant squid like object that responds by lighting up in rainbow colours when its sensor is waved at. Super pretty in reality. A must see!

The Gate by Li Hui

This one has to be everyone's favourite. It's mysterious and reminds me of secret agent movies. The emitted laser is real! Literally burns when stared into directly.

See! Everyone was so curious over this installation. Including me! (looking like I have chicken pox.)

Illumination Disorders ||
This one was made from various recycled materiels like umbrella and nylon fabrics. Really impressive for junk to look this good.

Free coffee?! *DANCES*

Yep. Free, hot Nescafé for you and your friend as you make your way through the trail.

Bibigloo by Bibi

An igloo made out of 250 jerry cans (used to contain fuel)! The artist intended his creation to raise awareness about global warning and melting ice caps. Very thoughtful of him.

The inside is lighted by a network of light bulbs.

Coral Garden by Olivia d' Aboville

No doubt this has to be my favourite. My photos doesn't do them justice at all. They're arranged in little clusters across the field.

Close up - coloured lights shining through a layer of clear fairy lights

I loved those lights so much I pixelated them and made it my wallpaper. Kind of reminds me of galaxies and my blog layout. Feel free to download, share the love!

Denim vest - Bugis street, maxi dress - Forever 21, shoes - Vans

Ending off with my outfit of the day.

Chunky arm party!
