Tale of the Sea Maid

Deep underneath the ocean, I heard the tale of the sea maid."

My photographer for the day <3

The highlight of my weekend was a visit to the Andy Warhol 15 Minutes Eternal exhibition at the Art Science Museum (info here). Known for his celebrity pop art and Campbell Soup logos, Warhol's story was well told through the galleries. It's so interesting to see the world through his perspective that was vividly captured in photographs. Although I did not know much about Warhol before the exhibit, I was captivated by his artwork and creations. What left the deepest impression in me was his 'Time Capsules' - Warhol filled over 600 cardboard boxes of his belongings, stored the boxes by chronological order, which he intended to display them all out one day! Just imagine what an obsessive hoarder he was.

You can run away with me any time you want

Shimmery sweater - mom's, sheer maxi skirt - Forever 21

Bag - Mango (borrowed), spiked bracelet - Hong Kong

Dr Martens Pascals boots

Meet Rover!

I can hardly be motivated to dress up with Singapore's climate. Just a sheer dress and thin sweater made me sweat a bucket, which makes me wonder how do people tolerate fur coats?! How?!

Saturday is always the happiest day of my week. I head to Church, attend classes and sermons and hang out with the people I love. My church holds an annual appreciation dinner for the entire congregation. This year, I'm so happy to have my girls over at my place to get ready together! It's always us who make the dinner such a big deal anyway. As girls, we find every possible opportunity to dress up! Such bimbos. We enjoy giving opinions on each other's outfit and deciding on what makeup to wear. I love my girls for trusting me to do their makeup so I try my best to make them look as good as possible. I thank God all the time for blessing me with a church and friends. Honestly, these girls feel like sisters to me; they are my pillars of strength spiritually, emotionally and physically. I look forward to experiencing greater things in life with all of them, all in the name of Christ!

My outfit of the day:

Velvet baby doll dress - Vintage French Connection (mom's)
Heels - Zara Basic Collection

Close-up on accessories
Gold studded clutch - Hong Kong, $16
Spiked bracelet - Hong Kong
Cross ring - Beadstreet, Cineleisure, $1

I kept my outfit very simple, drawing all attention to the accessories. My spiked bracelets and clutch look lethal don't they? The dress I'm wearing is so old - me being its third owner. Despite its luxurious material, I see myself wearing it on an everyday basic because it's so comfortable to move around in. It does not have the most flattering cut but it hides any bulge after a heavy dinner. ;)

Have a great week ahead everyone! Thank you for reading my blog!

The birds they circle in the sky

Blazer - borrowed, blouse - Dressabelle, leather skirt - Forever 21, belt - Uniqlo

FOTD: MAC blush in Dame, Coastal Scents 18 Neutral Palette shadows, NYX Lipgloss in Sorbet

I don't even know how the swallow print became so popular, often seen on Miu Miu, as tattoos or bird nest. But something about swallows is just so freeing to see. Perhaps that's the greatest super power mankind wishes for - to fly.

I'm wearing an extremely light-weight blouse from Dressabelle. I was mesmerized by the turquoise swallows against the white. Such a refreshing combination! A turquoise blazer matched perfectly, bringing even more emphasis to the turquoise swallows. Lastly, basic leather swing skirt provided texture. Black as a neutral colour which toned down my outfit, making it more wearable for day time. I apologize for not showing you guys my shoes! My room is a small space to work in. But if you're wondering, I would wear this outfit with black chunky heels or mary-jane flats.

Makeup: Uli Chan

Here's my latest makeup related work! It's for Natalie's graphic design project in Temasek Poly. Since the themed was 'Animal', I had to use lots of colours to bring out the two animals Natalie had suggested. The photo shoot was really a test for me. I rarely even use green and blue on my self, not to mention, models. Honestly, I'm afraid of colours! So loud and daring. But I didn't have a choice that day. Thankfully, I didn't screw up (phew), considering I did not know what had to be done. I can do anything through Christ (and my humble makeup brushes)!

Shirt dress

Shirt dress - Mango

Nude leather pumps - Zara

Accessories - vintage earrings from mom and random rings

Nigel and I

Got this shirt dress about a year ago from a Mango store in Qatar. The dress happened to be on sale that day. Wasn't too sure if I loved it at that time but I got it anyway. It is well structured yet easy to wear, I especially love the loose knot. Since the dress looked pretty good on its on, I thought a pair of nude pumps was understated and perfect to go.
