Playground

Sweater - City Plaza | Leather circle skirt - Forever 21 | Bag - Shanghai | Leather booties - Esprit

Details: Casio watch, m)Phosis spike bracelet, ring from Taiwan, China Glaze polish in Purr-fect Plum

Achievement of the week: I started jogging again! I have been a total couch potato for the longest time, it's good to be active again. It might not seem obvious, but I love fastfood, napping straight after meals and milk tea. Running not only makes me feel more energetic, I am hoping the outdoors will improve my eyesight too.

Weeks ago, I post a picture in my Instagram announcing there was a mega shoe sale at the Esprit outlet store (IMM). And here's the booties I got for only $34.90! Purchasing at this price for full leather finish - SCORE! Every girl needs a staple pair of boots! And having them in metallic silver colour is definitely an unique addition to my collection.

Just my good friends photobombing. Love having them in the picture anyway. :)

City of Love

Lace collar blouse - Dressabelle | Painter hat - H&M | Leather slit skirt - Cotton On

Mermaid scale clutch - Zara | Heels - Charles & Keith

Awesome photography by JJ

Oh c'mon, don't judge me on such a cliche title? But if I actually got to visit Paris one day I'd be wearing something something like this. I shall take pictures with the Eiffel Tower, have a small coffee and visit an art museum, walk a poodle...

*daydreaming*

Why is is that a painter hat makes anyone look like an artist instantly? Why are artists associated with hats like this? Was it because they weren't able to afford anything else in the past? Hmm. Regardless, I'm loving mine for now :)

Lazy afternoon at Tiong Bahru Estate

Crimson Carnations top - Sugarlips | Maxi skirt - City Plaza | Creepers (in the style of Underground) - Taobao

Daiso sun hat, $2 | Casio watch

Loving the frills and unique design on the back of my top!

In case you're curious, I'm wearing MAC lipstick in Creme D' Nude! It's a sheer nude lipstick with pink undertones. It's not my favourite nude lipstick because I prefer a thicker consistency. But this one is good for days when you want a nude lip with minimal makeup, this shade doesn't wash my complexion out.

Bumped into one of the many neighborhood cats around the area!

Interior of Books Actually.
A seashell I thrifted for $10, which I will use for decoration and to hold my ring
At Tiong Bahru Bakery

The old Tiong Bahru estate has officially become the favourite hangout spot for my boyfriend and I. The area looks rundown from its appearance, but there are tons to discover for sure. Mostly hidden would be cafes, lifestyle/ fashion stores and surprisingly, a book store. The biggest surprise was the little thrift area within Books Actually - where you will find numerous vintage collectibles and toys. Expect the unexpected. I am especially delighted with the pastries and coffee served in Tiong Bahru Bakery. If it wasn't for the crowd, I could spend my entire afternoon there. Nana & Bird is really a hidden gem; the tiny store carry the most eccentric fashion pieces designed by local and foreign designers. And if you're in the mood for glam jewelry and vintage, try Flea & Trees, a thoughtfully decorated store with rustic interior. I love how their things are displayed candidly, making my shopping experience so much more relaxing. Oh and did I mention their Instagram account is pretty cool? The owner frequently updates their feed with inspirational collages and Louboutins...

Never Enough Studs

Studded Stella dress - Dressabelle | Chandelier earrings - H&M

The most exciting part of the dress - studs lined all the way down the back!

Straw Shell clutch - Lulu Guinness | Studded pumps (in the style of Valentino) - Charles & Keith

Work doesn't feel like work when you're having fun! Last week while I was hanging around in Dressabelle's studio, JJ and I experimented with various lighting placements with the white backdrop.

I wasn't sure at first if I should add a belt to my dress but then I guess it looks more streamlined without. And simplicity really shows off all that stud details. Can I ever have enough of studs? No. Especially when they're against white. Nothing on me is expensive except for that Lulu Guinness straw shell clutch that I am absolutely in love with. It's not mine though! Can I be a mermaid for a day...

How To: Natural Looking Eyebrows

Eyebrows are often the most neglected part of the face. I used to do heavy eye makeup without filling in my brows because I didn't feel the need to. Why are eyebrows so important? You probably have heard a thousand times about how eyebrows 'frames' your face but trust me, it's true. Personally, a nice set of eyebrows make me look more focused because it visually draws my eyes closer together. It also gives me the illusion of a slimmer nose.

I guess the most important thing is to trim your brows. I go for threading at Little India for $6 every 6 months and maintain the shape by tweezing the excess hair every week. Once you have a basic shape to work on, it is a lot easier to fill them in. Also, do not over pluck! When in doubt, do not tweeze at all, leave it to the beautician instead.

How to you determine the colour of your brows? Simple use a shade that is slightly lighter than your current hair colour. For example:

Blonde/platinum - light gray/brown
Brunette - brown
Black - dark brown/gray
Redheads - reddish brown

You get the drift. This is merely a guide for natural looking brows. No one is stopping you to having pink hair with black brows!

Products used in this video:
Brow Pencil from Sasa (sorry I really cannot remember the brand)
Ardell clear brow gel

Rouge

Pascal boots - Dr Martens | Watch - Casio

Vandetta mesh dress - Dressabelle | Utility jacket - Cotton On Kids | Leather belt - Uniqlo

Tortoise frame spectacles - streets of Taiwan | Loreal ColorRiche Lipstick in Red Passion

Along the streets of Paya Lebar, an old man was kind to allow me to photograph outside his chinese medicine shop. I loved the big weaved baskets and that cute little weighing scale. The most unexpected locations are often my favourite places to shoot!

The dress I'm wearing is meant for the office but it's fun to break the rules sometimes. My utility jacket was actually picked out by my mom! I have to admit, my mother has pretty good judgements.

Vandetta mesh dress - Dressabelle | Pouch - Esprit | Nude leather pumps - ZARA

Gold chain necklace - Forever 21

Red lips being the centre of attention now! Every girl deserves a spanking red lipstick, I prefer mine in semi-matte formula. And I am loving Dresasabelle dress because it's super unique! A perfect combination of partial-peplum + mesh.

Ta-dah! Back to looking ladylike. :)

Day To Night Makeup

The long awaited makeup tutorials are finally ready!

Many readers have expressed your queries on the products I use. I don't state the specific products in the videos because I encourage you to work with what you have! For instance, I normally use Maybelline mascaras, but you can use a mascara you already own (and works well) to achieve a similar look. But since everyone has requested for the products list, I will name down everything.

The eye makeup is very subtle and neutral. Basically, this look should  brighten up the face. I used a pink eyeshadow all over my eyelid and a peach shadow to layer. A pencil eyeliner gives a softer effect; if black is too fierce for you, simple substitute it with a brown eyeliner for a natural look.

Products used:
Revlon photoready concealer
ZA two-way cake
Nivea lip balm
Urban Decay primer potion
Loreal color appeal eyeshadow quad in Pink Lust (overall color), Silky Beige (brow bone, inner corner), Caramel Charm (half lid)
MAC eye kohl in Smolder
NARS blush in Orgasm
Maybelline Stiletto mascara

Night Look (see outfit post)
Simply a transition from what I had on my face in the day. The key to this intense fierceness is to:
  • Define: exaggerate your bone structure and eye shape
  • Darken: intensify colours and shadows
Once you got that, it's simple! Remembering that balance is important - a washed out lip is beautiful in contrast to the smokey eyes.

Products used:
MAC mineralized skin finish powder in Medium Deep
MAC eyeshadow in Cork (crease), Carbon (outer-v, outer half of lower lid)
Loreal color appeal eyeshadow quad in Dark Chocolate (eye socket, lower lid)
Loreal super liner in Noir
NARS blush in Orgasm
Maybelline Stiletto mascara
MAC lipstick in Peach Stock

p.s. I apologize for certain parts that were out of focus, because I am still getting used to this camera!
