KATE cosmetics sent me some of their key makeup products from the A/W 12 collection to play around in a shoot. A makeup haul is like a dream come true for me! Among the many items, the Powderless Liquid Foundation being my favourite, has a unique technology that sets the foundation to a velvety (almost powder) finish within 30 seconds. It blended like a dream and did not budge throughout the 6 hour long shoot. The Eyebrow Colour is a tinted brow gel that fills and neaten your eyebrows and I absolutely adore the subtle golden tint. It is a fantastic product for those who already has relatively full brows but want more focus to them. It also works if you want to lighten your brows. Lastly, the Slim Create Powder comes in a highlighting and a contouring shade in one compact. The flat but wide brush makes contouring so easy and precise! I like that the highlighter is neither frosty nor glitter; just the right amount of sheer brightening effect. This is the product that I always carry with me to touch up with during photo shoots because who doesn't love chiseled cheekbones?

Fun fact according to Lenne the photographer:
The Kitsune dress by Lion Earl is the dress that Andrej Pejic brought home as a souvenir during Digital Fashion Week!

Sephora lipstick in Bewtich Me

Having seen all the dark, vampy lips on the Givency FW 12/13 runway recently, it only gave me more reasons to further cultivate my obsession with dark lipsticks. What I have on is actually a dark purple with a creamy consistency, I cannot wait to try other shades like dark cherry and grey-brown. My makeup was inspired by the Skyfall movie - I absolutely love how stunning Sévérine looked at the Casino in her lace dress. Of course, it is more realistic to keep the eye makeup minimum during the day. If you need help creating a look like this, I recommend watching this video tutorial!

Oxblood is undeniably the colour to wear for the year-end holidays because it looks so gorgeous on everybody! I paired a sheer blouse with a leather cardigan/jacket. I honestly think this jacket is perfect -  with the majority being made faux leather and the rest jersey cotton, it's easy to wear in humid weather. It also has draping details on the front and a cropped back. Probably one of the best mixed-fabric leather jackets I have seen in a long time.

Sunny Afternoon

Can someone explain to me what is that universal appeal to photographing pastries and looking at pastries? Like most people on Instagram, I admit I am addicted too. Yeah, one of those 'annoying foodies' who are too enthusiastic to share what they are having for brunch. I thought I was the weirdo who always take at least twenty pictures of my food before digging in, end up my best friend Mandy started doing the same haha! What an awesome feeling to have a girlfriend who acts is just as ridiculous as me; we were having fun in our own little world, ignoring everyone else in the cafe.

My favourite cafe is Tiong Bahru Bakery, located at the old Tiong Bahru Estate. I have blogged about it before, talked about it so much because it is one of my favourite places to chill out. An afternoon out with Mandy eventually led to meaningless photo taking with random trees and garbage bins. Enjoy :)

Soiree Spike

Jeffrey Campbell Soiree is probably one of their best selling shoes ever after the Lita and it is easy to see why. A lot of you have been asking me about where I bought my Soiree Silver (read my review here) and they're actually from Ashybury Skies. I had a good experience with them and international shipping is free when you enter a discount code, which can be found on site under 'Shipping'. Soiree is back, in spikes this time! WOW. I would get those if I haven't gotten a pair. So yeah, just wanted to share with my readers! Go get them quickly because Soirees tend to run out pretty fast...

When I first looked at the photos, man...what have I done? I swear I had zero intentions of looking like I am wearing the uniform of um, a girl's school. Did I just made things worse by reminding you?  Putting those thoughts aside, how do you like my outfit today? *weak smile*

Instinctively, I always like to pair denim with white. Trends come and go but I am sure everyone has a white tee and blue jeans as basics. When these two colours come together, everything looks fresh, resembling clouds against the ocean. I was inspired by nautical themed homes with white walls and blue accents, spaces seems brighter and more airy. I think the same colour theory applies for outfits too. For finishing touch, I could not resist adding a pair of cute socks from Daiso!

Le Picnic

Hand drawn parcel

I hated picnics and I absolutely cannot cook. But months ago upon reading this post, (thank you Melody) I was inspired to plan a more-than-decent for Nigel who just turned nineteen this month. Planning a picnic isn't rocket science but neither it's easy. Our picnic turned out successful, and for that I really have to thank my mother for helping me with groceries and cooking.

How To Plan A Picnic

A customized menu makes a picnic more fun!

1. Decide on a theme
Vintage, Chinese style, pastries - take your pick. I chose a vintage Parisian theme for Nigel, though the food hardly matched up lol. You can even decide on a dress code to look extra good in pictures. When selecting mats, plates etc, make sure the colors compliment each other. Daiso is a fantastic place to go for picnic needs, saves your wallet too! Try to give personal touches as much as possible - a ribbon round your tupperware can make a huge difference.

Brown paper bags (pack of 15) - Daiso

2. Plan your food
Will your food spill easily? Do they require to be kept cold? Is the food difficult to handle? Personally, I find finger food and uncut fruits work well because they are mess free. Sandwiches and salads are great alternatives for the mains, just make sure you have wet wipes if you are using your hand. For food items that requires keeping cold, store separately in vacuum bag with a chiller. For convenience, I try to use disposable ware so that there's less to carry on my way home. I love to keep liquid in my retro vacuum flask because that guy keeps everything chilled for hours!

Table cloth (used as mat) - Daiso | Disposable paper plate & paper handkerchief - IKEA

3. Pick a spot
Botanic Garden's Symphony Lake is a famous spot for picnics but there tend to ants around so make sure to examine the spot before settling down! I think Chinese Gardens and Gardens by The Bay are great alternatives too. It is also a good idea to lay down two mats for bigger sitting/snoozing area.

Disposable champange glasses - Giant
(I don't recommend getting this for picnic as they topple easily on uneven ground)

4. Don't forget your loved one
Don't get so caught up with your phone! Instead communicate with them, laugh, take lots of pictures and lie down together. I think the whole purpose of a picnic is more than eating on a patch of grass, it should be an opportunity to spend quality time while having fun. Bring a book, an ukulele even if you'd like. Remember to enjoy (and have a wet weather plan)!
