Turning Twenty

"Life is all about relationships. The greatest gift you can give to someone is your time."
– Rick Warren

I am truly blessed to have my these girls in my life. They are my best friends, soul mates, sisters in Christ. These girls have seen my through thick and thin, encouraged, motivated, comforted and loved me to no end. Even if life were to turn sour, I know they will always have my back.

An incredibly satisfying dinner at Shin Kushiya, JEM. I've never been a huge fan of Japanese cuisine but their cold Soba noodles and grill selection were AMAZING. Even as a relatively budget diner, I highly recommend this place because what's on your plate deserves every penny. Promise!

Nigel is really camera shy so I grab every possible opportunity to get shots of him. I may sound like a biased girlfriend but he is unbelievably photogenic. (I swear most of his photos were candid or just him dazing into space)

Before I forget, another reason to patronise Shin Kushiya is for an intimate dining experience. I absolutely hate dining in noisy and packed restaurants but at SK, (as a big group) we got a private room of our own. Their regular tables are really cozy too!

Thank you, my friends <3

Blowing out my candles like a boss.

Flowers have always been a love-hate thing for me because they wither so damn fast! Or maybe I am just a horrible flower caretaker. But undeniably, flowers brighten up my day instantly. Just looking at them sitting on my desk is enough. Knowing that school has been extremely rough, Nigel got these sunflowers to keep me smiling. Sweetest guy ever.

I am addicted to these truffle fries by The Riders Café. I literally crave for them every single day.

I enjoy taking a break from work and city life, taking a moment live life at a pace it's supposed to be.

Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur... How can cats be this perfect, cuddly and beautiful?

Favourite brunch combi: Smoked tuna + scrambled eggs + toast + iced Latte.

The love of my life whom I have known for more than a third of my existence. He makes me smile everyday.

To be honest, I don't really know what to feel about entering my twenties. I can't believe how fast time goes by. Everyday is passing by swifter than I can make sense of. I can barely recall what happened a week ago but that's okay, because relationships are all that matters at the end of the day. If I could only share one thing which I have learnt so far, it is to cultivate meaningful relationships and let go of those that are toxic. Nothing is more precious than the unexplainable trust between you and your pals. You cannot choose your family but beyond that, relationships are what you make it. When I am on my death bed, I want to be reminded of how much my friends have loved me when I didn't deserve to be. Here's to a life time filled with love!

Sometimes all it takes to turn a bad day around around is a change of style. I consider myself girly majority of the time but I really enjoy androgynous pieces that make me feel completely different about myself. Inspired by the design aesthetics of Comme Des Garcon, I chose to stick to the androgynous side today, playing with structured pieces that are super functional.

The unique combination of polka dots and contrast piping on the shirt is graphical and playful. As much as I appreciate plain basics, patterns never fail to add a little something to my outfit. Polkadots dominated many of Rei Kawakubo's works and hence and I think the overall look of this outfit reminded me of her. I couldn't help but to add a necklace whenever I'm wearing collared shirts. The subtle peek of jewelry is strangely satisfying. Who else is guilty of this?

I let the shirt stand out by keeping my pants simple. A pair of black cigarette pants is essential to any androgynous get up. I especially love the zip detail at the ankles which are edgy and effortlessly shows off your shoes. Im wearing a gorgeous pair of pointed block heels by Charles & Keith. Not necessarily everyone's cup of tea, but it certainly deserves a second glance on the streets!

Raw

I have always wanted to shoot my outfits in a raw, industrial environment and today my dream came true. One disadvantage being a fashion blogger in a city is being deprived of untouched and abandoned environment. More often than not, gardens were man made, empty spaces forcefully plastered with advertisements. I think the clean concrete walls and dusty floors for today's shoot is a breather from most of my other photos.

Today I'm going back to one of my old classic styles – the juxtaposition of tough and delicate. I've mentioned a million times about how leather and chiffon is my favourite combination in styling. I love the romantic rose graphics on the sweater which really stands out against the dark background. I also love 3/4 length sleeves because they never get in the way of things (such as washing dishes). Of course, there are endless ways to wear a sweater, and one great way is pairing it with loose maxi skirts. My salmon pink complements my skin tone really well and prevented me from looking too 'weighed' down by black pieces.

Dressing up is really about wearing what you feel good about and I am all about offending your vision with unexpected jewelry. Gotta admit, I love it when people tells me, "I don't understand why you're wearing this". Well that's exactly the point. It's totally okay to wear costume jewelry on any plain outfit, as long as you look polished overall.

Mini backpack - c/o O'ORO

As some of you might know, I have scoliosis which gives me a lot of backaches. More and more I find myself carrying backpacks simply because it distributes weight evenly on my shoulders. I carry a huge one for school, and this mini one I'm carrying is a lifesaver on days when I'm carrying loads but don't want my outfit to look mismatched. We all have a problem with cute canvas backpacks that looks to casual for a night out, right? My backpack cannot get more stylish with these reptile imprints on the front flap and classic gold hardware. Oh and did I mention, it's convertible to a cute sling bag too! Genius. Not that I will but definitely a treat to the fickle minded.

Pascal boots - Dr Martens

That's it for today! And if you have enjoyed my recent posts' photography and have always wondered who's behind the lens, here she is!
