King's Landing

It's officially less than a month to Nigel and I's month long Europe trip. I'm feeling jittery and excited, making endless lists in my head. I can hardly contain myself, because I have never travelled out of Asia (besides to the middle east that one time) in my entire life, neither have I spent a month away from home. But it feels great to run away, get a change of scenery and open my eyes to the real world where it's cruel yet filled  with forgiveness. Imagine meeting strangers whom I would begin friendships afresh, reside in a temporary apartment where I can myself and it's okay. No strings attached. Imagine seeing Victorian castles and historic European architecture all in front of me...how I have dreamt all these years and they're finally turning into reality. Can I take the adrenaline when it comes? Will I be quick to document and secure those memories forever? Or should I stay still and live in the moment? Will my eyes capture all that happens in a day? This sense of rebellion and need for adventure; maybe that's what drives people forward in their twenties. I never want to lose this passion. Perhaps, the wild wild world out there is simply a better place than home for now.

Fringe mocassin boots - Taobao

You might remember the same backdrop from the previous post named 'The Free Spirit', and yes we decided to come back again to shoot. While many parts of the world is experiencing heat wave at this period of time, I think Singapore (where it's crazy hot normally) is blessed to enjoy a surprisingly breezy summer. And because of that, I can't help but to drift into the mood of dressing for fall. Overall, I just prefer fall fashion so much more than the cheery summer pastels.

I absolutely love the horses on my dress. When printed on a three-dimensional, almost origami style skirt, it becomes such a statement piece. Don't you just associate moving horses with fringe and flowy things? I kept to an overall warm colour palette and since the dress's satin material looks quite formal on its own, the loose knit top really tones all that seriousness down. When I see a nice dress, I don't worry too much if I'd ever find an appropriate occasion for it because I know that anything can be adapted if you find the right pairings.

The Free Spirit

Free Spirit
noun.
1. One who is not restrained, as by convention or obligation; a nonconformist.  2. When one acts all wild and carefree.

First and foremost, can we all take a second to appreciate the sick photo processing we have on right here? Did autumn just happened? We all know how problematic it can be to work with the abundant greens but miraculously, we found the most random field of fallen leaves and it worked beautifully with  today's theme. You see, old leaves wither and fall as a natural growth cycle and dry leaves decompose to boost the soil's nutrients and fertility. Must we always rid dried leaves of its existence on our pathways?

Dressabelle normally offers super girly dresses but I was surprised to notice this vibrant native dress. The clash of colours and wild swirl of prints is beyond amazing. It comes in a basic shape with a tailored waist and spaced out pleats. It's made of linen which is super comfortable to wear even on the hottest days! Because I thought wearing the dress alone was too plain for my taste, I threw on an earthy toned cardigan. Its slouchiness makes any outfit more laid back and approachable, and the olive green tones down the red. I normally gravitate towards black and white but recently I have been appreciating the versatility of neutrals.

Oxford boots - Taobao | Socks - Daiso

We also found a small tent made out of twigs and leaves. I have never seen one in real life, maybe cause I'm not an outdoor person. I was happily kicking leaves around and imagined dancing in circles around a bonfire. A girl can dream.

I hope you enjoyed this post and that I was able to convey the mood across even though its merely words and pictures!

Make It Happen

Turtle neck crop top - ASOS | Mary janes - Dr. Martens

An ideal weekend for me usually sums up with church, time with my girlfriends, popping by a hip cafe or two, get my outfit shot if possible. Since the haze miraculously (thank God) cleared up two days ago, summer is at its full blast again so Nigel and I went to explore a cafe that specializes in restoring vintage furniture. Totally love their decor; mismatched, customized furniture everywhere and drool-worthy pastries that'll leave you spoilt for choice. A great hideout for first dates, conversations or simply if you have a sweet tooth.

Tulip (aka. mom) jeans - thrifted for $2 | backpack - Saint Jack (mom's vintage)

As I have mentioned in my previous post, this pair of jeans has to be my best thrift buy so far. Since it's meant to be high-waisted, I thought what better way to rock it than a crop top? So Rihanna-esque! I'll look even more badass if I added some gold chain necklace but nah, shall save it for another time. I love that the crop top isn't too short because that'll expose my untoned tummy, but still sexy nevertheless since it reveals a small inch of midriff.

Belt - Uniqlo | Amethyst necklace - AMEN | Hoop earrings - Bugis Street

Some people might say pants like this are so unflattering and resembles Ronald MacDonalds but I can't care less be honest. The loose form of the jeans has an unconventional appeal which makes it stand out from your regular skinnies. I'm still looking for more ways to wear them but so far, my favourites are knotted tees and crop tops.
