Every once in awhile, we all need a little empowerment. Whether we choose to channel an attitude through a bright red lip, or decide to slip into our beaten up sneakers because heels are really not worth the effort, it is as if with a single element of dress we could form a barrier between ourselves and the world. I felt especially inspired by the AWANG X HM collection. Okay let's put aside all that media rave for a moment, and think about just how powerful a statement the collection is trying to make. If you have seen the collection already, it would occur to you that the entire line, staying true to the AWANG aesthetic, is inspired by modern hi-tech sportswear. What really impressed me was its consistent grey colour palette (with the exception of occasional pops of accent colours) which pretty much represents the every day commuter; an individual part of the homogenous smart phone generation, quietly blending in yet a fighter of a mad rat race. The image of the Urban Warrior is practical, smart and very much a uniform. That's the look I'm trying to recreate today in my own style. What I love most about this outfit is the poofed up sleeves that subtly create a power silhouette...just what I needed to survive a rough week. To streamline a top heavy proportion, I layered a slim fitting dress underneath with slit zipper details to match my sweater. And knowing me, I love unexpected details. Finished look with costume jewellery and stilettos, because why not?

I would lie down in an abundant forest all day, if it wasn't for mosquitos. Yun Jing and I returned to our favourite grassy spot again. It's been awhile, and it felt satisfying to be shooting with her again. She never fails to make this place appear whimsical and almost surreal.

I felt right in my element and couldn't feel happier to be creating content after a break. I casually put on a cotton midi dress which felt relieving on a humid afternoon where the wind remained stale. That too explains my little awkward ponytail. I barely have enough hair for a neat style but then it's a reminder that my hair grows way too fast, calling for a haircut.

I feel like my outfit today is very granny chic and it's a pretty stylish way to respond whenever someone makes a remark of me, "you dress too mature for your age". The rebel in me silently delights in doing the opposite, and the densely gathered flower patten of the dress does just the right amount of aged charm. I also adore the hint of orientalism with that mandarin collar which looks neat and modest. I think the tidiness of that juxtaposed against my scruffy looking handbag, also known as the 'garbage carry'. There's no way I can resist unconventional accessories that question looks and functionality. The best ones? Those that strike a balance between the two.

A quick post to share with you what I wore to Audi Fashion Festival and Blueprint 2013. For my overseas friends, AFF is deemed the official fashion week here in Singapore. Blueprint is somewhat like a trade show focused towards promoting local designers. I am pleased that Singapore is finally placing more emphasis on its budding fashion industry. I met my friend John, who is a renowned Singapore street fashion photographer and I have always admired his eye for details in photographs. His ability of making people look fantastic under any circumstances surprises me every time! For those who are wondering, I was actually busy chewing a Magnum ice-cream in this shot.

I'm going to be completely honest with you. I am extremely intimidated by social events of any sort, not to mention a fashion festival where hundreds of industry professionals are expected to be present. The age-old question of 'what do I wear' is mind boggling. My solution - A plain maxi dress that is figure flattering yet understated. Always works, I swear! Maxi dresses are my must-haves because they can be dressed up or down easily. I layered a long mesh vest to give extra texture and 'presence'. And since my hair is short, I really love all the attention that was directed towards my accessories. My trusty creeper wedges provided height and comfort to walk around all day. In a social event like the fashion show, the worst thing you could do is to wear an unfamiliar piece of clothing or shoes that'll probably leave you uncomfortable. Imagine having to adjust your mini skirt every three seconds...how awful!

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the link to the exact dress I'm wearing. Sorry guys :( I bought mine a year ago. However, I've found three maxi dresses under S$35 that comes in a body-con fit. A good thing to note is that ASOS dress tends to run long so let's say if you're a UK6 like me, a UK4 might fit you better.

I have officially graduated from Ngee Ann Poly! Three years have flew past in a flash, leaving me with so much nostalgic memories. It's such a surreal feeling to know that you're ready for the work force. I'd be continuing in my studies though. Anyway, isn't this dress gorgeous? Yes, I'm aware it's originally H&M - which Beyoncé was seen in the recent campaign. I have always loved the idea of scenic graphics because it's like an art piece displayed on dress form. Same goes for my beloved Blackmilk pieces. This one reminds me of Jiu Zai Gou valley. Never been there before, but friends who have gone describe it as heaven on Earth. They say the water there is so clear you could see coral reefs beneath. I also heard that the the Pandora in movie Avatar was created based on the valley. Definitely one of my travel destinations in the future!
